

Samuel was born in Eddington, MS to Elmo and Maggie Jones. He graduated from Lillie May Bryant high school and joined the United States Air Force where he operated heavy machinery and developed a love for it. He accepted Christ as a young man at Pleasant Grove Church. Samuel worked in the construction industry as a crane operator, a job that took him around the United States to work on various projects. When he wasn’t hard at work, Samuel loved to travel and listen to the blues.
He married his lovely wife Justa on New Year’s Eve in 2005. They were together 17 years until his passing.
Samuel was predeceased by his father Elmo Jones, mother Maggie Jones, his sister Mary Jane Jones, his brother Sylvester Hicks, and his brother Reuben Hopkins.
Samuel leaves behind his wife Justa of Rex, GA, son Daniel Jones of Jackson, MS, stepdaughters Erika Ervin of Lancaster, SC, Maria Thomas of Atlanta, GA, his brother Parris “PJ” Anderson of Jackson, MS, his sister Rebecca Jones Fleming and her husband James Fleming of Jackson. MS and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved him.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Samuel on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of his life will occur Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Ward's Chapel. Services will conclude with graveside military honors and committal at 2:30 PM in Georgia National Cemetery | 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive Canton, GA 30114. Pastor Newlin Vargas, officiating.
