Adrienne Harriet Owens, 73, of Stockton, California, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 18, 2025. A vibrant and loving soul, Adrienne will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless students whose lives she touched during her long teaching career.
Born on September 4, 1952, in Japan, Adrienne spent her early years in Chicago, where her fascination with science blossomed. She often spoke of her work assisting in cancer research at the University of Illinois, as a high school student. This was a passion that reflected both her curiosity and her compassion for others.
In the early 1970s, she moved to California, where she built the life that would become her proudest legacy. Adrienne graduated from California State University, Hayward in 1975. She worked in retail in San Francisco while preparing for her teaching career, then embarked on a remarkable 35-year career teaching elementary school, nurturing young minds and instilling in them a love of learning that would last a lifetime. She truly enjoyed children and had an innate ability to connect with them, making her not just a teacher, but a cherished presence in their lives.
Beyond the classroom, Adrienne lived life with enthusiasm and grace. She was passionate about food and art, enjoying painting, coloring, and sketching. She loved collecting art pieces that spoke to her. She loved to travel, always eager to explore new places.
In her later years in Stockton, Adrienne embraced life with the same vibrancy that had always defined her. She treasured time with her close circle of friends, going out to eat, shopping, and never missing the annual "Senior Prom," where her outgoing personality and warm spirit lit up the room. She had a gift for making every gathering special and every friend feel like family.
Adrienne was preceded in death by her parents, Andre H. Owens and Louise Owens. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Adrienne's memory to the American Lung Association.
Adrienne's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her, and her impact on generations of students will be felt for years to come.
