Deacon Alton Ross of Stockton, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 3, 2015. Born in Magnolia, MS, Alton accepted Christ at an early age, being baptized at 11. He served diligently at God’s Throne Baptist Church as a deacon, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Timothy J Dunham Sr and in many other auxiliaries. He served in the US Air Force for 4 years as an Airman. He retired from Earth Grains after 28 years and Stockton Unified School District after 8 years.
Alton is survived by his wife of almost 27 years, Kathryn, daughters Talalia Ross and Amber Dunham, granddaughters Lauren Fairley and Kayla Hicks, 3 brothers Glen, Dennis and Carl Ross, all of Stockton and 1 sister, Carolyn Carrol of Burbank. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cumbia J Ross and Clay Lee Mays and one brother, Craig Ross. Viewing will be Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 3-6 at Frisbie & Warren Funeral Home; Services will be Monday October 12 at 11am at God’s Throne Baptist Church. Committal will be Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
