Barney Lewis Jr. is survived by his children: Barney Eugene Lewis, Dr. Catherine Frances Lewis-Brownfield both of Stockton, California and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Barney Lewis Sir, mother Katherine Gaines, brother Warner Cruikshank, and brother Roderick Gene Lewis all of Oklahoma.
Barney Lewis Jr was born on February 14, 1946 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Barney Lewis Sir and Katherine Gaines. He graduated from San Joaquin Delta College with a degree in mechanical engineering. He married Joyce Huggins, in 1970. Barney began working for Libby Owns Ford (Pilkington) as a glass cuter. The couple welcomed two children into their home and Barney set about teaching them the importance of education and Christian principles. His children remember him as a driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Barney Lewis Jr was goal driven, and an accomplished Pastor. He was a dedicated individual who loved God and who was passionate about building God’s kingdom. At the time of his passing he was the pastor and an active member of the Bethlehem Upper Room Church of God in Christ. He served the community through acts of kindness such as donating clothing and feeding the homeless.
A funeral is scheduled for January 30, 2023 at Greater New Hope Deliverance Church of God in Christ at 10 am for viewing, services beginning promptly at 11 am with a private reception to follow. Bishop Albert Galbraith, Jr., will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barney Lewis Jr’s life. Condolences can be sent to P.O. Box 691664 Stockton CA, 95269.
