Betty was born on December 7, 1940 to the late Nelson (Ham) Hodge and Frances Louise Hodge in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her education in the Davidson County public school system. Betty accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. Mark Baptist Church of Nashville, Tennessee. In the early 1960’s, Betty and her daughters left Nashville, TN and relocated to Stockton, California.
In September 9th 1967 Betty married the love of her life, Kenneth J. Farmer. To this union one
son was born, Kenneth Jr.. Betty and Kenneth Sr. spent countless hours providing loving care to Kenneth Jr. until he succumbed to his lifelong illness at the age of seven.
Betty graduated from Cosmetology School and she was a licensed beautician in the 1970’s. Later, Betty returned to school and became a Registered Nurse, where she worked at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton for almost forty years until her retirement. Throughout her career Betty received numerous service awards and certificates from St. Joseph’s.
Betty was a very active church member. She served faithfully and enjoyed giving of her time and talents as a church administrator. She was an active participant in various women conferences throughout California.
Betty and Kenneth traveled extensively as members of the Motor Home Club. Betty also enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Her trip to London was one of her memorable trips.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family.
Betty enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren-oftentimes telling them, stories about her childhood and how she learned to drive at age 12. It was a special treat to share her favorite gummy bear candy. Betty had a keen sense of humor and often made everyone around her laugh. Betty had a special mission of helping and caring for the Elderly.
