Chrystene Eilene (Jimenez) Favaloro peacefully left this world on November 16, 2024 with her family at her side. She was born in El Paso, Texas, then moved to California as a young child, and graduated from Tokay High School in 1987 where she enjoyed her time on the cheerleading squad (Drill Team) and became an accomplished long-distance runner in Track. She attended Delta College and Woodruff Beauty College where she earned her cosmetology license. She worked as a very successful hair stylist for over 30 years at several salons in Stockton including Bella Gente, The B Hive, and, most recently, Salon 6 Central until 2022. She was married for 28 years to her husband and best friend, Kevin Favaloro, in September of 1996 at Lake Tahoe. They were blessed with two awesome children, Mikayla (24) and Rogan (18), and a stepson, that she called her own, Jordan Kellogg (33) of Tampa, FL.
At Quail Lakes Baptist Church, Chrystene found her deep passion and purpose in helping the less fortunate in Stockton. She dedicated six years to assisting and coordinating the Helping Hands Ministry that delivered food and groceries to those in need. On Saturdays, they would load up the ministry’s truck and make their regular stops at four locations in town where those needing “a hand-up (not a handout)” would pray and sing as they received these donations. Chrystene also traveled to Spain and Brazil on mission trips sponsored by the church.
Chrystene was very creative and loved scrapbooking. So much so, she completed 25 albums that capture wonderful memories of family and friends that will continue to live on.
She was also a loyal friend to so many, greeting them with her megawatt smile, as if you were her very best friend. Chrystene lived in an enthusiastic way, with a child-like energy and zeal for life! Sometimes she had to remind Kevin to slow down and enjoy the journey, not just the destination. She had this innocent, reckless abandon, filled with spontaneity that carried over into her final years. Even though she was losing her memories, she didn’t lose her personality.
She loved spending quality time with her family, especially her mother Pat and stepdad Chuck. They all enjoyed numerous trips to Disneyland, camping, and the beach. She was an exceptional cook (with a special flair for Mexican food) and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers, birthday parties, and dinners. Her, Kevin, and the kids shared a love for music. Whether at home or traveling, Chrys would always submerge herself in faith-based music, as well as, Journey, Stevie Nicks and pretty much anything from the 80’s!
In 2021, Chrystene was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Her family, especially her husband Kevin, were her full-time caregivers. They feel very blessed that they were able to hold her hands while playing her favorite music, go through her scrapbooks, and share memories with her up until the end.
Chrystene was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Pat) Reeder, and her father Johnny (J.J.) Jimenez. She is survived by her husband Kevin, daughter Mikayla, son Rogan, stepson Jordan Kellogg, brother Andy Jimenez, stepfather Charles (Chuck) Reeder, stepmother Mary (Mare) Jimenez, mother-in-law Linda Beal, father-in-law Don Favaloro, sister Arvie Arteaga, nieces Caitlyn and Cassidy Arteaga, and brother-in-law Robert Arteaga. She is also remembered fondly by her dear friends, amazing clients, and the entire Favaloro/Sincerbox/Blanchard families.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 18th, at 1:00 in the sanctuary of Quail Lakes Baptist Church. Donations in Chrystene’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
