

Clayton F. Warde was born in San Francisco, on June 19, 1944, to Fred and Bette Warde. He attended St. Anne’s Elementary School and graduated from Riordan High School in San Francisco. He also attended classes at San Francisco City College and San Joaquin Delta College. Clay worked for James Allan & Sons as a meat cutter in San Francisco and moved with the company to Stockton in 1973. After the company’s closing in 1979, he worked as an Inventory Control Manager, a Sales Representative, and in Customer Service at Washington Mutual, where he retired. His passions included chess, reading, model railroads, and studying history. Clay was a long time Little League Coach, softball coach and a CYO basketball coach. He was also a Tokay High School Band Booster, while both his son and daughter participated in marching band and continued to support the program for a decade. Clay was also a Charter Member of the Presentation Counsel of the Knights of Columbus, and he was a 4th degree member. During his illness, he enjoyed many an hour watching the Sci-Fi Channel with his two poodles sitting on his lap. He was passionate and a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco Forty-Niners, the Golden State Warriors, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also enjoyed auto racing. He enjoyed many family vacations at Disneyland. Clay is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane, his daughter, Theresa Marie (Terri) his son Michael, and his wife Teresa B, and his grandchildren Conor and Kathleen, and his cousins, Edward, Barbara and Billy Morgan, and his brother-in-law, Richard Radigonda.
