

She moved from Muskogee, Oklahoma with her parents and elder sister Glovia to farm in the Delta. After a brief stay with family in Yakima, Washington, she returned to Stockton to finish her education. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1939.
She married her childhood sweetheart Clarence Washington in 1940 and they had nine children, Christine and Kathleen "twins", Stephen Dale, Gerald, Douglas Lee, Janet, Gloria Ann, Bruce Edward, and Marsha Louise.
Jacie was employed by Tillie Lewis cannery, the California Walnut plant, and after earning her teaching certificate she was an assistant teacher at the California Youth Authority in Manteca, CA. Jacie was the president of the PTA while her children were in school, she also volunteered to work the election polls and participate in local political campaigns. She and her husband of 47 years were part of the founding group for the Pre-War II Stocktonians. A group of African Americans born and raised in California prior to world war II.
Jacie was an avid reader. She loved to work in her vegetable garden. She shared her life with neighbors and friends of every walk of life, and she worked with her husband on his charter bus trips serving as the unofficial hostess. Jacie was
baptized in the Methodist church at a young age, later in life she joined the Jehovah Witness church prayer group which faithfully met with her on a weekly basis for prayer and support.
Jacie was supportive of her children and grandchildren. She welcomed her grandchildren to spend the summers with her and also raised two of her grandchildren.
Jacie, being the last of her generation, was preceded in death by her Husband Clarence Washington Jr., in 1987, her two sisters, Annie Whittle and Glovia Jordan, her four brothers Richard Hendrix, Voyce Hendrix, Oleander Hendrix and David Hendrix, and her two sons, Gerald Washington and Bruce Edward Washington. Jacie leaves to mourn her seven children, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California St. in Stockton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11 AM at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary. Arrangements under the direction of Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, Stockton, CA.
