Jennifer Colene Barnes was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on November 30, 1976 to Brenda and Edward “Eddie” Barnes. Eddie was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the Navy when he met Jennifer’s mother. In 1977 Brenda and Jennifer relocated back to California while Eddie remained in Massachusetts. Eddie continued to play large role in Jennifer’s life and often made trips out to California to spend time with her until his passing in 1985.
Jennifer was raised in Stockton, California with her Mother, Brenda; Stepfather, Michael, and Sister, Julie. In 1990 Jennifer and her family moved to the Linden Area where she attended Linden High School and graduated in 1994. She went on to earn her BA in criminal justice at CSU Stanislaus. While working on her degree she waited tables at Angelina’s.
A few of her brightest accomplishments in life were the birth of her two sons, Tyler Barnes and Dylan Wysocki, and the day she became a member of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department.
Jennifer had a large extended family in both California and Massachusetts with many aunts, uncles and cousins that meant the world to her. She’ll be remembered for her feisty personality, great sense of humor, and contagious smile. She had a big heart, loved animals, and would do just about anything for anyone who needed help. She also loved music and spent a lot of time going to shows, often to see the Jerry Garcia with the Grateful Dead and the Dave Matthews band.
So many of us have great memories of Jen and she will live on with us in those memories.
