

Jessie was born in Sutter Creek, California to Jesus and Carmen Duarte, the eldest of 13, raised in Stockton, attended Luther Burbank Elementary School and Stockton High School. In high school, she met the love of her life Robert Munoz. They were married at St Mary’s Church in Stockton, September 12, 1943. Married for 66 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Edwarda Andrade, Barbara Benitez, Trina Enriquez, Jovita Cruz, Helen Moreno, John Urrutia, Josie Gonzales; her husband Robert Munoz and her daughter Roberta Testo. She is survived by her daughter Loretta Munoz of Stockton; granddaughters Heather Koester (Shawn), Upland, CA; and Kristin Testo, Riverside, CA; and son-in-law Michael Testo, Riverside, CA. She also leaves behind brother Jesus Dominguez, Los Angeles, CA and Matias Urrutia of Stockton; sister Lupe Vela of Phoenix, Arizona, besides many nieces, nephews, godchildren and some very special friends.
Jessie was a wonderful mother and homemaker, noted for her cooking (tamales), sewing, crochet, knitting, and quilting. She also was girl scout leader, bilingual reading tutor. She worked in the local canneries, and even packed cherries. She was great in math. She was employed at Montgomery Wards payroll office, Dunlap’s Dry Goods Department Store (payroll office); Stockton Fiberboard as payroll supervisor where she retired after 32 years.
Jessie and Robert loved to travel in their motorhome through California, Texas, and Mexico. They enjoyed New York City and Washington D.C., as well as traveling with their friends (Sally and David) to Mexico and Los Vegas; and to Hawaii with Ben and Lucy.
Thank you to the ladies from Vitas Health Care (Cora Porras, Aji Fumi, Roxanne Rios, and Chaplain Dave and Doctor S. Shaw). Also family members Lucy Munoz, Robert and Mykel Munoz, Lucy Valverde, Cheryl Gillis, Marion Battles for their love and support.
Indeed Jessie and Robert had a wonderful and full life together. They will certainly be missed, but will be in our hearts and have our love forever.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at De Young Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California Street, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, 1663 E. Main Street, Stockton. She will be laid to rest at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E. Harding Way, Stockton, California.
