

John Recomio Bernardo, age 67, of Stockton, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born on March 7, 1958, in Stockton, California, the third child of Jose and Helen Bernardo. John grew up and lived in Stockton his entire life.
He attended Edison High School, earning Honors in Orchestra, and later graduated from San Joaquin Delta College with an Associate of Arts degree. Early in his working years, John worked alongside his father in the family construction business before finding his long-term career at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he worked in Food Services for more than 30 years. John was known for his soft-spoken nature and gentle spirit. He was caring, loving, and kind to everyone he met. Family meant everything to John, and he deeply cherished the time spent with his loved ones and his beloved pets. He also had a great love for sports, especially football and tennis, and could often be found enjoying a game or match with quiet enthusiasm. John will be remembered for his warmth, compassion, and the steady presence he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He leaves behind many who will miss him dearly and carry his memory in their hearts.
John is survived by his siblings - Robert, Anne (Dennis), Mark (Lisa), Teresa (Rick), Thomas, and Marcia (Paul (d)). In addition, he leaves behind his loving nieces and nephews- Claire, Stephen, Alexa (Adam), Jared, Emily, and Andrew.
Visitation will be held on January 15, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. at De Young Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton. Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 3847 N. Sutter St., Stockton, on January 16, 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment to be held at a later date.
