(Torres) was born
in Cortaro, Arizona on
March 17th, 1929. She
was the oldest of 5 siblings.
She is survived by
sister Sallie Warner and
preceded in death by sister Margaret Holocker
and brothers Alfred and Lyle Alexander. June met
the love of her life Jose Marquez Torres when she
was 18 and they were married in 1948. Her son
Michael was born, and followed by her daughter
Diana. She was a nurse’s aid, later becoming a RN.
Afterwards, she worked at San Joaquin General
hospital for 27 years and retired at 65. June was a
devout Catholic. She served in: Legions of Mary,
honorary member of the Filipino Group, Apostolic
group at St. Luke’s, taught catechism, led youth
retreats, went to Cursillos, sang in the choir and
worked bazaars every year. She was a Eucharistic
minister taking the sacraments to those in care
facilities. Her favorite color was blue. She spent her
time collecting tea pots, gardening and camping.
She once rode a bike from Yosemite to Modesto
at the age of 67 and once caught a 275 lb. Marlin.
She read 1,000s of books and was an avid hiker.
She knew the names of most trees and plants. She
began playing bocce in her late 80s at the Italian
Athletic Club in Stockton and fell in love with
the game. She is preceded in death by husband
Jose Marquez Torres and son Michael Jose Torres.
She is survived by daughter Diana Marie Heald,
son in law Berton Heald Jr and daughter in law
Sandy Canary. Grandchildren Brian, Cyndi, Tonya,
Marie, Susan, Mark, Michael, Jennifer, Robert
and Karenann. Great grandchildren, Levi, Sara,
David, Shiloh, Kaya, Leilanie, Taylor, Branden,
Cody, Corina, Serenity, Kadin, Trent, Ty, Penelope,
Hunter, Connor, Katieann, Kimberli, Kelli and
great great grandson Zion. Blessed with a long
life and lasting legacy. She will be dearly missed.
