After a stay at the Hospice House of Stockton, Karren Kraus of Stockton died April 7, 2018 due to kidney failure. She was 75. She died just one day before she and her husband Joe Kraus were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Born August 10, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was a graduate of Utah State University. She then taught elementary school in Arizona, southern California and Stockton, retiring in 2003 from the Stockton Unified School District.
She has been active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the San Joaquin Farm Bureau Agriculture in the Classroom program, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the American Legion Auxiliary of Karl Ross Post 16 in Stockton, and Girl Scouts where she served as an adult leader.
Married April 8, 1968 in the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, the union produced four children: John Kraus (who died in childbirth) Heidi Delaney and Peter Kraus of Sacramento and Rebecca Sprinkle of Stockton. Their six grandchildren include Jaycee Henson and Shawn Kraus of Sacramento, and Caitlyn, Joshua, Addyson and Carter Sprinkle all of Stockton. In addition to her husband Joe, Karren is also survived by her brothers Larry and Lyman Kranwinkle, and her uncle Orville Peterson, all of Utah, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, April 13 at 11 AM, with a viewing in the hour prior, at the El Dorado Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7030 N. El Dorado St., Stockton. Interment will be at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California. DeYoung Shoreline Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
