Louie passed away peacefully at home not long after being diagnosed with leukemia. He was born and raised in Stockton where he graduated from Stagg High School in 1968. After graduating he joined the US Navy for 4 years. Upon returning, he went to work for Alpine Mill and Lumber, which was owned by his father Louie Rubino and his uncle Pete Rubino. After the closure of Alpine Mill, he went to work for San Joaquin Lumber and retired in 2012. After retirement he worked seasonal during walnuts for John Dondero Farms.
For all that knew Junior, he lived a very routine and regimented life. He enjoyed all of his friends stopping by late afternoon for cocktail hour. His door was open to all. He enjoyed his Sunday’s watching the races. Late afternoon, early evening you could drive by his residence and see all of the same pickups in his driveway. He was a man with many friends.
Lou took much pride in his yard, one could see him riding around the large area either on his golf cart or on his riding lawn mower. He had a community garden which he spent much time in, he provided many vegetables to the Linden community, his motto was bring your bag and pick. He also had a passion for both hunting and fishing.
Junior was born to his late parents Louie and Lousie Rubino. He is survived by his sister Christine Rubino (Gary Eutsler deceased), his brother Jim Rubino, nephews Frank (Lizzy), and Tony, 3 great nephews Santino and Carlos Rubino and Jonathon Ochoa. Also survivors include step children Mike (Lynette), Joe (Jen) Prater, Tim Rubino (Heather), and step grandchildren Mike, Morgan, and Kaitlyn Prater and Sophia Rubino.
Per Junior’s request no services will be held. In lieu of flowers if you wish to contribute to a charity please send all donations to the Linden Peters Volunteer Fire Dept P.O. Box 673 Linden, CA 95236 in honor of Louie “Junior” Rubino.
