

Marjorie Ellen Booth Hedrick passed away on December 11, 2015 at St Joseph’s Hospital from a major stroke she suffered at her home. She was surrounded by family at her bedside when she went to be with the Lord
Marjorie was born in Thomas West Virginia on November 22, 1930 to Edwin Judson Booth and Catherine Jane Pase, Cyrus, Booth who both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 38 years, John Andrew Hedrick of Hendricks, W. Va. and her son, Terrence (Terry) Lynn Hedrick of Redding, Ca., her older sister, Eloise Marie Booth Kosta of Lodi, Ca., a sister, Edwina Joan Booth, Poling, of Parsons, W. Va. 3 half sister’s, Winifred Cyrus, of Thomas, W. Va., Lillian Booth Parella, of Fairmont, W. Va., and Lucille Booth, Spangler, of Stockton, Ca. and a half brother, Fred Booth of Stockton, Ca.
She is survived by a brother, Edwin Judson Booth Jr./Wanda Bohon Booth, of Parsons, W. Va., a sister Margret Eleanor Booth/Bob Chase (deceased) of Gillette, Wyoming and a brother, Robert A. Booth/Connie of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She graduated from Parsons High School in Parsons, W. Va. in June of 1950. On December 16, 1951 she married John Andrew Hedrick of Hendricks, W. VA. at Red House Maryland. She is survived by her 6 children; Michael Lee/Maria Vallejo of Ripon, Ca., John A. Hedrick Jr./ Vera Snyder of Hendricks, W. Va., Janet Marie Hedrick, Renteria/Fred Renteria of Modesto, Ca., Ronald Steven of Stockton, Ca., Richard Alan/Judy Kaiser(deceased) of Stockton, Ca. and Thomas Edwin/Catherine Arcy of Rancho Calaveras, Ca., grandchildren; Michael and Matthew Hedrick, Michelle and Melissa Hedrick, Chad and Robin Hedrick, Kelly, Kristy and Kara Martin,Ryan Paul Hedrick Johnson, Sarah Hedrick, Ashley Hedrick Johnson, Chrystal and Jerry Hedrick and great grandchildren; Eliana and Cameron Frazier, Jack Nielsen, Taylor Lynn Hedrick, Madalyn K. Halverson and Lauren Jean Caron, Cortez Antonio Gacayan, Amelia Martin Sasse, Alexis, Aubury and Paul Kaelbli Jr., Joelen and Darien Hedrick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Parsons, W. Va. she worked at the Duncan Telephone Company run by her father, answering phones on the switchboard. After she was married, they moved to Philadelphia, Penn., Hyattsville, Md. and Rockville, Md. eventually moving back to Parsons. While raising her family she worked at a woolen mill and waitressed at a restaurant there. In 1961 the family moved to Hendricks and lived there until September of 1969 when they moved to Stockton, Ca.
In Stockton, she got a job as a cook at Beverly Manor, Convalescent Hospital. Then she applied for a got a cook position at the Northern California Youth Authority where she retired from in July, 2009 after 30 years of service. In August of 1989 her husband passed away at home from a heart attack. In April of 1991 her son Terrence passed away in Redding, Ca.
During her retirement she was able to make numerous trips to Tijuanna, Mexico to visit friends that lived there. She was also able to travel to W. Va. several times to visit family and friends and attended a granddaughters wedding on July 28, 2012. She liked to watch old TV shows such as Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, The Walton’s, Little House on the Prairie, and her soap operas, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. Her favorite snacks were Crunchy Cheetos, chocolate chip cookies, raspberry filled cookies, peanut brittle, and black licorice and she enjoyed drinking non alcoholic Sangrias. She attended Central United Methodist Church where her mother Catherine Booth also attended and sang in the choir for many years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her because she was a very loving, caring, compassionate and selfless person. But because she believed in God and His Son Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins and His resurrection from the grave promising us the gift of eternal life in heaven with Him we are confident and comforted that she is there and we will someday be together again with her for us who believe as she did.
She will be cremated and her cremains will be taken back to Parsons West Virginia, where, after a family graveside ceremony, they will be buried with her parents in the Parsons City Cemetery.
There was a family and friends viewing for her at Frisbee and Warren at 809 N. California St. Stockton on Friday December 17, 2015 from 1 PM to 5 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Central United Methodist Church at 3700 N. Pacific Ave. in Stockton on December 29, 2015 at 1 PM in the Fireside Room of the church with a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church or the charity of your choice in honor of her name.
