

She is preceded in death by her parents, Shinshiro and Fukiko Kusama; her brother, Henry Kusama; and her sisters, Lily Kagawa and Rosie Sugimoto. May is also preceded by her loving husband, Teddy Saiki, and her beloved daughter, Dr. Deborah Saiki. She is survived by her son, Rodney Saiki (Heidi); her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Patrick, and Courtney; as well as her dear great-grandchildren, Riley, Grayson, and Scarlett.
May was a dedicated member of the Stockton Buddhist Church and actively involved with the Stockton JACL, Adult Buddhist Association, and Stockton Woman’s Buddhist Association, as well as Hiroshima Doshi Kai and Tomo No Kai. In recognition of her perseverance and commitment, May was honored with the Gala Daruma Award, which acknowledged her outstanding volunteer work and her contributions to the JACL mission and the lives of many.
For over 30 years, May worked as a bookkeeper for various organizations, including Sharp’s Army, CPA firms, and the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office. She enjoyed being present at her family’s sporting events, especially attending University of the Pacific basketball games. May had a fondness for good food, with French fries being a particular favorite, and she also enjoyed gambling and traveling.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Stockton Buddhist Church – 2820 Shimizu Dr, Stockton, CA 95203. May will be laid to rest privately at Parkview Cemetery. She will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched.
