Norris W. Gooler, dearly loved father, son and brother, passed away suddenly on the evening of May 15, 2012. His passing was preceded by his wife, Connie J. Gooler and father, Vernon V. Gooler. Norris was born in Stockton, CA and graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1959. Norris was an Auxiliary Police Officer for Lodi Police Department and made his career as a Sheet Metalist. Norris was a very active member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Assoc., before retiring in 1997. Norris shared his love of the outdoors with his family and friends, often camping, fishing, hunting and finding the beauty in nature. He was a member of Sacramento Mountaineers, Nat’l Rifle Assoc, NA Fishing Club & Hunting Club, RMEF, and Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed his annual hunting trip to Colorado with lifelong friend, John Howell. Norris enjoyed breakfast with his coffee guys, board games, golf, cruising in his hotrod, playing bocce, and cheering on his grandkids. Norris always 'poured in' and left each of us full. We will greatly miss his fearless compassion, endless patience and his abundant wit, which he so joyfully shared with each of us. Norris made the world a better place.
Norris is survived by his mother, Martha Lee Gooler; brother, Merle (Glenda) Gooler; three children, Norlissa (Matthew) Clark, Jolynn (Ron) McDonald and Todd (Katie) Gooler; his seven grandchildren, David, Jessica, Brittney, Garrett, Lauren, Kyra and Tyler; stepson, Steve Alloway; and special friend, Carol Del Prete.
A gathering of family and friends is being planned for Sunday, July 22, 2012. For more information, please contact the family at [email protected]. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
