A beloved man, devoted husband and father of two Roberto “Pelon” Rubio Madrigal unexpectedly departed this earthly life on April 23, 2023 at the early age of 65. He was born the son of Maria De Jesus Duenas and was bestowed the title of eldest brother to Bertha and Anna. He is survived by his beautiful wife Victoria “Sister” Rubio, daughters Priscilla and Marissa, and grandchildren Gavin and Calia.
Pelon’s life began in Tijuana, Mexico on July 2, 1957. At the young age of 19 he bravely ventured away to Stockton, CA beginning a new and wonderful life with his loving aunt and uncle Humberto and Martha Guzman. Pelon proudly dedicated himself to 44 years of hard work building a career at the Del Monte cannery ultimately retiring in 2022. His incredible work ethic was second only to his devotion of them Raiders! Although they abandoned him, he was always a faithful fan and continued to represent them in his daily attire.
He was forever blessed on the day he set eyes on his future wife Victoria “Sister” in 1982. Their love developed into what many could only wish and pray for; a boundless marriage and friendship that held no limitations, filled with laughter and companionship like no other, a true sharing of unconditional love.
He doted on his two daughters to anyone and all that would listen. He was an honored grandfather to Gavin and Calia, willing to drop everything in an instant to aid in their times of need. He excitedly anticipating his granddaughter’s approaching 10th birthday in July, people would hear him say “Anything for Selinas!”.
Pelon’s love was deeply imbedded into the daily lives of so many families and friends’ he held near. Always eager to help when needed, his day was never complete unless he was out providing for people he cared for. He was everyone’s “go-to” man, from assisting his mother-in-law with doctor appointments, to babysitting his nieces and nephews, and delivering food to family members in need. This undeniably selfless way of life he led, always had a way of consistently enriching the lives of all he touched.
For all whom loved him dearly, we will never forget his: unwavering smile, the dependable donning of his Raiders hat and sunglasses that provided him his signature look, the way he could charm you with his presence, the incredible gift he had to portray his memories in a way that made you feel a part of them, his undying and “nasty” love for his “woman”, and the way he felt for his children, grandchildren, and extended family members.
