Beloved husband, dad, grandpa, son, and brother, Sam G. Mah, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 26, 2018, at the age of 77. Sam was born on June 30, 1941 within the Canton Province in China to Bing Foon and Yut Sen Mah. At the age of 11, Sam left China for the United States in search for a better life. He went to Edison High School, supported the family restaurant (Mah's Cuisine, China City), and helped care for the family. Sam received his BA in Economics and Business Administration from Chapman University. He started his career with the City of Stockton as a drafter in the Community Development Department. He worked his way up to become the Deputy Director of Community Development. He was proud to serve the City of Stockton and after 33 years of public service, he retired in 2001. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and was an avid golfer. He traveled to places like Palm Springs, Monterey, and Hawaii to golf with his wife, Alice.
Amongst all else, his greatest treasure was his family and he dedicated his life to make sure all of his family members were well taken care of. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Alice; mother, Yut; four children: Darrell (Mary), Cindy (Daydra), Darren (Courtney), and Emily (Leo); 5 grandchildren; four brothers: Henry, John, Danny and Larry.
