I had the pleasure of knowing Sam when we were much younger, meeting him through CYT. His smile was infectious, he truly lit up the room. He must have just been 10 or 11 when we first met, and even then he was certain of himself in such a profound way. I will cherish the last time I saw you, running in the field and taking photographs with you and your sister. So much love to the Vogel family during this time. Sam was an unbelievably special person. 

I have so many fond memories of Sam from highschool.  I met him through CYT, and for a few years there was a group of us that would get together every weekend or so and go on adventures.  From playing hide and go seek in Target or Walmart, to fighting off (running away) from a pack of coyotes in Castle Rock, rolling my sister and her friends up in to human burritos, to when i got pulled over for going 30mph over the speed limit on Highlands Ranch Parkway, and the cop had to run off to deal with something more important before i got a ticket.

I enjoyed all of the plays that we did together too, and still remember his wide, suspicious-looking grin that he would crack in the middle of a scene while he was performing some stunt that was supposed to be a joke and the directors would take seriously.  His confidence was always admirable, and it was in imitating him that i learned to believe in myself as well.

My heart aches for Sams family and friends. Sam was my first best friend, and my parents always said we were inseparable. My most memorable memories from my childhood involved Sam. I’m so happy that I was able to get to know him. His memory will live on with me forever. I pray that his family will find comfort during this hard time. 

I watched Sam grow into a fine athlete at Englewood and how much he cared about his teammates and encouraged  everyone to do their best. I loved watching him play the drums at Mosaic, his smile was very infectious and always seemed so happy to play those drums. To the Vogel family we send our love, hope for Peace and know that God has you all in his hands. Prayers for your family. 

Sam and I weren’t exactly close friends, but we did spend a lot of time at the Forge Youth Center together while playing and laughing our nights away playing Dungeons & Dragons with the others. One night he had given me a ride home and we had been listening to a band we both loved the entire way home. Even though I didn’t know him well, he was an amazing and kind soul. Much love, Sam.

I had the privilege of working with Sam both in the classroom and on stage. What a generous and truly kind-hearted soul! I can't believe he is gone. Sam was equally graceful as an actor, athlete and person. What a true joy it was to watch his humble God-given talents on display. Until that Great day, my friend, you will be missed.

Sam was a wonderful kid. I had the pleasure of working with him for a few shows and the first time I met him was at his auditions for CYT’s “Bye Bye Birdie.” We all knew instantly that he was our Birdie. I remember teaching him how to swish his hips and curl his lip for the “Elvis” look and his willingness to try new things and apply himself until they were accomplished. He was a joy to work with and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to know him. He will be very missed, but He is with our Heavenly Father playing drums and making people laugh as he did here. To Sam’s family - you are in my prayers. Your son touched so many people’s lives in a positive way and you should be so proud of the life that he led. He was truly a wonderful young man of the Lord. 

I remember having a sleepover with Sam when I first started hanging out with him when we were still in middle school. We watched family matters and had mac and cheese for dinner. I always admired his knack for making people smile.

I remember always being excited to have Sam in a class or a show.
He blew us away at his first audition for Narnia where he right away got a speaking and singing role, which I think surprised him, as I think he was hoping for chorus.
I also remember being so excited to have Sam as Aladdin in Aladdin. He was a great as the title character and he made the show very enjoyable by being so friendly and welcoming to the whole cast.
I will always remember his smile, joy and infectious laugh.

The best memory i had with Sam was when he was trying to teach Reighan how to drive stick. 

We are so sad about your loss. Please please accept our deepest sympathy for your family.   May God ease your pain with his Love and Grace.

The Jamieson Family

So Sam and I did CYT together, when we were both in middle school, and unfortunately he was one of those friends that I fell out of touch with over the years.  

The memory I want to share was back when I was in 7th grade and Sam was in 8th. And we went to a movie with these two pretty girls. Anyway, being a 7th grader I didn’t know how to flirt and eventually I ended up getting a skittle lodged in my nose. And I kept sniffing and Sam was like, “you good?” And I was like “nah gotta get to the bathroom” and he came in with me and I told him I got a skittle stuck in my nose. And he just started laughing hysterically, so hard that he didn’t even help. And I eventually got it out and we went back and he just kept making references to skittles the whole time, and I eventually learned the humor of it and started laughing. 

He was one of those friends that taught me to laugh at my insecurities, and for that I could never be more thankful! Rest In Peace Sam, I’m sorry we fell out of touch over time. But you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers right now! When I come to heaven let’s see a movie again, and I promise I won’t get a skittle lodged in my nose this time...

I had the pleasure of meeting Sam when he was much younger. My father and I brought Steve and Sam to our ranch in West Texas for a couple of days of “roughing it”.  We camped in hunting trailers and cooked over open fires. We hiked, shot pistols at targets and enjoyed sharing our little slice of heaven. I have always had a wonderful relationship with my father, it was a joy to be able to share him, and our hide out with another special father and son. Sam’s wonder  at everything was so refreshing and entertaining. Such a kind, creative and energetic boy. My heart breaks for my good friend Steve and his beautiful family.

I remember Sam from my stint as the show coordinator for CYT's "Into the Woods" that he and my son were in together .  Sam was the narrator, and he was hilarious. When I think of him, I picture him onstage, eating popcorn in character while watching the craziness of the rest of the cast.  He was hilarious.  I didn't know him well, but I do know that he was friendly, kind, funny, and helpful, and I'm shocked and saddened that he is gone FAR too soon.  

Morganne, you probably don't remember me, but I remember talking with you backstage during a couple CYT shows.   My heart goes out to you and the rest of your family.  

I had the great pleasure of teaching Sam during my years at Englewood.  I enjoyed watching him grow in confidence and compassion .  As a teacher, your hope is that all of your students will someday change the world for the better.  Sam was one of those few who didn’t wait until after graduation to light the world on fire.  He will be missed.  My prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Sam. I know you are with me. I can feel you. Strongly. We know you will be with us forever. I love you so much sam. I love you. I hope Shia will forever remember the most amazing uncle she had and i will try my best to have you alive in love to tell cooper stories...

As the current drummer at Mosaic Church, I got my drumming inspiration from Sam. He was who I looked up to When it came to drumming and seeing him play made me want to learn how to be a drummer. We also led the Forge together for a while and he always knew how to put a smile on my face. He had a caring heart and was always open to listening to what everyone had to say. I'm going to really miss him! Love you Sam. Can't wait till we meet in the clouds.

What I loved most about my cousin Sam was his smile and fun personality. I am deeply sadened that he left us all too soon. Sending prayers & hugs your way Vogel Family.

Sam and I had ran track together since sophomore year of high school. On one occasion junior year, during a 200m relay, I was running and didn’t realize at the time but I had torn my hip flexor, and Sam was receiving the baton for the last leg right after my own, and he almost won the race for us even after my injury had cost us some time. This speaks to Sam’s dedication as an athlete, competitor, and friend. Sam was always pushing everyone to be their best, and I can’t thank him enough for being a hugely supportive teammate and a great friend. We love you Sam.
