Shirley Ann Delfatti

At 8:09 AM on Saturday, January 21 2023, Shirley Delfatti passed away at Hospice of San Joaquin in Stockton, California. She was 85. Shirley is survived by her two sisters, Linda Matthews (John) and Mary Blake; her two sons, Daniel John Delfatti and Jon Francis Delfatti (Lynn); her grandchildren Jon Delfatti, Kristin Wascom (Jonathan), Rebecca Delfatti; and her great grandchildren, Evelynn Ann Wascom and Ethan James Wascom, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel John Delfatti (2007), and her parents, Frank M. Silveira (2001) and Lucille A. Yettner Silveira (2012).

Shirley thrived in community settings: she was an active member of the Presentation Catholic Church where she volunteered for years as a Eucharistic minister, counted weekly donations, and helped to obtain contributions for both the Bishop’s and Presentation building fund. Shirley kept accounts, hosted her local bridge club, and was a regular attendee of a bimonthly wine club. She loved to travel and engage in lively conversation. She never missed a chance to gamble with her good friends. Shirley loved her family and was willing to provide her time and resources to help all of those whom she loved. She will be remembered as a woman who strove to bring her family together, always welcoming family and friends with her warm smile and a hug.

She was born to Frank and Lucille Silveira on June 19, 1937. She attended Fairchild Elementary School, Tracy Union High School, and then transferred to Stockton College. There she met Daniel John Delfatti. The two were married on July 8, 1956 and had two children. She worked as an Executive Secretary at John Mansville and eventually retired from the California Beet Growers Association.

Her services will be held at Presentation Catholic Church in Stockton, California on Monday, February 6th at 10 AM. Father Larry McGovern will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Presentation Church or Hospice of San Joaquin. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Shirley’s life.

Serving as pallbearers are Ken Blake, Jon B. Delfatti, Brent McClure, Blaine Vernon, Brandon Vernon and Jonathan Wascom.
