Tony Moreira

Tony (Antonio) Moreira passed away peacefully at the age of 93 after a short illness. Tony was born on June 21, 1926 to Antonio and Carma Moreira. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Avelino (Avie) and Joey, his first wife Ginger and his grandson Joey Pinasco.

Tony was a lifelong resident of Stockton who attended Edison High School. He left high school to join the army. Upon return to Stockton, he graduated from Stockton High School and attended UOP and Humphrey’s College where he received a degree in Commercial Science.

Tony married his first love, Virginia Nix and they were happily married for 43 years.

Tony was a local businessman who owned and operated Hank and Tony’s Builder’s Supply for 50 years. He was an active member of many local organizations: American Legion, Stockton Chamber of Commerce, Ambler’s Club, Stockton Elks BPOE Lodge 218 and the Portuguese Hall. Tony loved jazz music and he met his future wife, Delores, at a jazz festival. They married in 1999 and spent many happy years together.

Tony was a wonderful man who enjoyed spending time with family, listening to jazz music and investing in the stock market. He led by example, but never preached. He always put his family first and helped them in many ways.

Tony leaves a void in the lives of his son David (Shelly), daughters Kimberly Spalding and Toni Pinasco; step daughter Theresa Valente; as well as his grandchildren Adam Rimington, Brande (Jeff) Voss, Carrie (Daniel) Sulak, Adriana (John) Lewis, Virginia (Joey) Petersen and Michelle Pinasco and his 9 great grandchildren. We are all forever grateful to have had Tony for 93 years. He has left a legacy in this world and in our hearts.

A public visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel on Tues., Nov. 19 from 4 PM- 6 PM with a Rosary at 6 PM. The funeral will be held on Wed., Nov. 20 at 10 AM at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stockton Elks Lodge, 8900 Thornton Road, at noon.
