It is with extreme sadness we wish to advise that Barbara Grauman (nee West) passed away peacefully June 6th, 2021.
Barbara is survived by her sister Darlene.
She was born at Elk Point, Alberta, to Betty and Colin West, who farmed north of Clandonald, Alberta. She attended Louise Lake School in the Landonville District for grades 1 to 8, Vermillion Junior High for grade 9, and Kitscoy High for grades 10 to 12. She went on to become a Comptometer Operator. Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Robert John Grauman from Clandonald, Alberta in 1961. Following marriage, they lived in Scarborough, Ontario for 14 years, then after missing the west, returned to Alberta in 1975.
Barbara had been working for Environment Canada while in Toronto, then transferred to Edmonton, where she eventually moved to the Federal Department of Forestry as a pay clerk, retiring at the end of May 1996.
Over the years she and Robert pursued their love of travel. Many trips were made abroad touring Europe, while others covered the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska, plus Yukon and NWT. Sadly she lost Robert in 2013.
Barbara took great interest in meeting and talking with people, thus making many, many friends. These people were so very important to her and she to them. As a result, this has left a great void in all of our lives.
Barbara and Robert have had special cats in their lives, with Oliver the last one, who is now with special friends and giving them great pleasure.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
