OBITUARY
Carolyn Gay HARDY
Passed away on 21 March, 2021
It is with great sadness the family of Mrs. Carolyn Hardy of Stony Plain, AB announces her passing on March 21, 2021 at the age of 56 years.
Carolyn will be remembered as a caring, thoughtful and strong willed woman who never let life’s challenges stop or control her. In 1986 she achieved her dream of joining the RCMP and after graduating Depot she was first posted to Penticton B.C. In the summer of 1988 she met her husband Keith, who was working as a summer student at the detachment. In the early years of their relationship Keith was accepted into the RCMP and was then posted to Spruce Grove AB. After they married in July of 1990, Carolyn accepted a medical discharge from the RCMP and then joined her husband in Alberta. It is here she began her next chapter in her life of starting a family, first Kelsey then 4 ½ years later Nathan. As she watched her kids grow she loved watching Kelsey’s soccer and Nathan’s hockey games. In her spare time at home, she enjoyed listening to audio books, sitting in the sunshine, and spending time with her family. She always put others before herself, and make it a point to send a message for peoples birthdays or special occasion.
Carolyn will be forever loved by her husband and best friend of over 31 years Keith; her daughter Kelsey; her son Nathan; her mother Phyllis; her sisters Peggy (Tom), nephew Ryan, and Judy (John), nieces Rosslyn and Andrea. Carolyn is also survived by many extended family and in laws from B.C. as well as by many friends.
Carolyn was predeceased by her father Arthur.
The family would like to thank Renee and Ellen who worked closely with Carolyn over the years and became more like family. Your friendship brought so much joy and laughter. To the numerous ladies from Homecare who became close friends, we thank you.
If friends desire, donations for audio books may be made to the Stony Plain Library, www.mysppl.ca/support-sppl/donations in Carolyn’s memory.

Our very deepest sympathy on the passing of Carolyn. Her life will be remembered by us as one to be considered as very special. She achieved her early goals with intelligence, dedication and hard work. She carried that on with Keith to build a quality of life with their children, after her illness. Carolyn was obviously a woman of great strength and courage and a family that supported and loved her. She will always be remembered by Ardith and Barry and family. God Bless you.

I had only a handful of visits with Carolyn over the past couple years but that’s all I needed to know what a loving, caring, amazing person she was. Our little chats to start the morning always made my day. My thoughts and prayers to her husband and children at such a difficult time. She will be missed.

Keith, Kelsey and Nathan,
Sending you all my deepest condolences. I will truly miss Carolyn and feel so privileged to have known her. Everytime I read a good book I will think of Carolyn because she would text me asking if I knew of a good book and we would exchange good reads with each other. She was a strong and compassionate lady who loved her family and was so proud of you all. We always shared stories whenever I came to care for her and that I will miss a lot. Carolyn will always hold a special place in my heart and I sure do miss her! Stay strong and hold your memories close💕

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Carolyn. I remember so many things about Carolyn. Her place was my first sleepover as a kid. We had fun as teenagers. I remember how fit she was. We missed her RCMP graduation because our car broke down in South Dakota. We did get to see her while she was at depot though and we saw a very determined woman. We exchanged notices when our kids were born. Unfortunately, as her disease progressed and we moved away we lost touch the last few years. I will always Carolyn as a smart, kind person who was so proud of her family.
