OBITUARY

Christina Forsyth Trew

IN THE CARE OF

Parkland Funeral Services

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Christina Forsyth Trew (nee Brown) announce her passing at home in Spruce Grove, Alberta on Monday August 5, 2024.

Christina was born as a triplet in Glasgow, Scotland in June 1953. She had a happy childhood and enjoyed life growing up in Clydeside. Her family had roots in the Highlands and in Ireland, and she had a large supportive family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She began her working life as a lab technician in the Department of Food Science at the University of Strathclyde in 1969 and there she met her Canadian husband David, who had started work in 1971 as a research assistant in oceanography. They had a wonderful time together travelling the beautiful countryside of Scotland and exploring its historic culture and music.

They were married and moved to Alberta in 1974, and have lived in the Stony Plain and Spruce Grove areas since then. Christina was a happy and outgoing Glaswegian, working for many years in the banking industry and later moving on to new home sales. She had a gift for conversation and always enjoyed meeting new people in our community.

She was proud of her Scottish heritage and enjoyed the world of highland dancing and Celtic music. She and David enjoyed many trips back to Scotland, and in later years winter vacations in Mexico.

She is survived by her loving husband David, daughters Heather and Sheilagh, three grandchildren (McKenna, Brooke and Shaye), sister Sandra in Scotland, sister-in-law Brenda in Ontario and five nephews and nieces in Scotland and Canada (Susan, Jonathan, Nicholas, Jenny and Jaye). She was predeceased by her parents Alec and Mary Brown of Erskine, Scotland, her triplet siblings (Margaret and June), her nephew Mark in Scotland, and her beloved daughter Shona.

The family would sincerely like to thank all the medical, nursing and Homecare staff who provided care and support for Christina during her illness.

"Ae fond kiss, and then we sever

Ae farewell, alas, forever"

(Robert Burns)

Cremation to be followed by a private family service and internment.
