With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we share the passing of David Rudolph Johansson, a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, comfort, and a steady love to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
David was the kind of man people don't forget, not because he demanded attention, but because his heart made you feel safe in it. He was deeply loved, fully adored, and profoundly appreciated. To those closest to him, David wasn't just family, he was home.
Above all else, David was the most loving best friend and devoted husband to his wife, Mary Johansson. David loved Mary with a gentle devotion that never wavered, always making sure she felt cared for, supported, and cherished. Their life together was filled with fun, laughter, companionship, and a kind of love that felt rare & real.
David was also an incredible father & stepfather, and one of the most outstanding grandpas you could ever imagine. He had a special gift for being present - not just physically, but emotionally. His grandchildren knew they were deeply loved, treasured and seen.
He is survived by his children Christina Marocco (John) & Karl Johansson and by Mary's children, whom he loved as his own: Holly Popiel (Jeff) & Shauna Harris (Russell).
David will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Martina & Ava Marocco, Ingrid Johansson, Chloe & Lexie Popiel, Sydney McDonald (Kenny), and Brendan Harris (Rachel). He was a proud great-grandfather to Piper, Emilia and a great-grandbaby on the way, a legacy of love and family that will continue forward.
David is survived by his siblings: Jim Johansson (Anna), Donna Penosky, Judy Becklund (Dennis), Vivian Hallett (Scott) & Arne Johansson (Karen). He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
While we grieve the loss of David's physical presence, we hold tightly to the truth that his love is still here, in every story that makes us laugh, every memory that brings tears, and every moment we catch ourselves missing him more than we expected.
In keeping with David's wishes, in lieu of a formal Celebration of Life, he has asked that friends and family find a free moment to enjoy nature, take a walk or hike outdoors, perhaps enjoy a piece of licorice and remember him with a smile.
