1933-2022
With great sadness the family of Mr. Gerald Carson of Stony Plain, AB. announce his passing on July 28, 2022 at the age of 88 years.
Gerald (Gerry) was born and raised in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. He was a hard worker with a great acumen for business, even as a child - he often shared stories of the jobs he did “to make a buck.” He had a very strong work ethic and ensured this was passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He started with CN as a Station Agent when he met and married the love of his life -Yvonne. They had three children: Tracy, Fred and Laurie. Gerry owned businesses which eventually lead him to his career with Federated Cooperative Ltd as a General Manager prior to retiring in 1994. Retirement provided Gerry with a new hobby - a love of investing. He had a passion for business and the stock markets. The only things he watched on TV were hockey, the business channel, the news, and stocks.
He enjoyed sports, fishing and hunting, riding snowmobiles and motorbikes in his younger years; in the summer many weekends were spent enjoying bbq’s with family, fishing for rainbow trout and, snowmobiling in the winter with family and friends. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to share their accomplishments with his coffee friends.
He was a kind and loving husband as well as an amazing father and grandfather. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Gerry managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day he was surrounded by his children, who he adored.
Gerry will forever be loved and missed by Tracy, Fred (Shaelynne) their children: Rebecca, Mackenzie and Kelsey, and Laurie (Jeff) their children: Carson and Jessie; his brother Robert (Maria); his sisters Donna and Betty (Nick); brothers-in-law Ray and Allen (Georgine); sisters-in-law: Eunice, Elsie, Sharon (James), Krystall, and Marlene as well as many other extended family and friends.
Gerald was predeceased by his wife Yvonne; his parents Fred & Myrtle; his in-laws Thomas & Jessie Ann and Muriel; his brother Victor; his sister Shirley; brothers-in-laws Vern, Floyd, Kenneth, Tommy, William, Errol, and Tom and by his sisters-in-law: Joyce, Darleen, Delpheen, and Stella.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation for the care provided to Gerry by the following: Dr. Fuchs, Seniors Serving Hands, AHS, EMS, medical staff of the Misericordia Acute Emergency and Unit 7E.
Dear Grandpa
I know it will be time to part soon
But how to put in words I love you to the moon
That I am truly scared to face the fact
A part of my family I may never interact
But if you shall leave, I hope you always know
I’ll love you forever, and I’ll always miss you so
