With deep sadness, our dear mom and grandma Gerry, left us on January 6, 2025. We were blessed to have her with us for almost 84 years; the last number of years, living with the effects of a stroke and progressive dementia. Mom was predeceased by her husband Brian in 2020, with whom she was married for over 60 years, and her parents Peter and Rosalie. Her children mourn a great loss to their lives; Kevyn, Shelley Havirko (Ernie), Brad, Darryn (Valerie) and John. She leaves behind six grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great-grandchildren. In recent years, she resided in long-term care where she was visited by her children on a daily basis.
Gerry was a small woman who made big sacrifices for her family and who appreciated the presence of her family for meals, on camping trips, and for longer trips with her husband and little dog Buttons. She loved to work in her garden, make crafts and have her grandchildren visit her.
Our dear mom loved us unconditionally and we experience a profound sadness at losing her. We commend her to the arms of our merciful and caring Lord, and we find some sense of peace in knowing that she will finally reunite with her husband who has been waiting for her to join him in the company of the saints in heaven.
Thanks be to God for the great and loving gift of our mom to her children and grandchildren. Mom, you will always be missed but we know you will be watching over us and guiding us through our own lives. We love you so much mom and we are eternally grateful for the wisdom you have imparted to us and the hugs you planted on us.
If friends desire, Memorial Donations may be made in Geraldine's honor to the Edmonton SPCA.
