Herbert Fred Kopp

It is with great sadness that we announce Herb’s passing on July 3, 2024, at the age of 76. His long struggle ended, his soul at rest in the Lord.

Herb was born on December 6, 1947, third child to Mike and Agatha Kopp, and brother to Eric and Shirley. He was raised on the family farm and took his schooling in Westlock, AB. Leaving the farm when he was 19, he headed to Edmonton where he started his career of 38 years with the Toronto-Dominion Bank. Over the years, he lived in Edmonton, Dawson Creek, back to Edmonton, Calgary, Medicine Hat, Brooks, Oyen, and lastly Barrhead, where he retired in 2006. As he was approaching the end of his illness, Herb and Donna moved to Spruce Grove in November of 2023, to be closer to their children and their families.

Herb is survived by his loving wife of 47 years - Donna L. (Dumont) Kopp, sons - Aaron M. A. Kopp (Velaine Short) and Brad W. Kopp (Heather Bader), grand daughters - Harlow J. Kopp and Myra W. Kopp, sister - Shirley M. Wruk, as well as numerous extended family members. Herb is pre deceased by his Father - Michael E. Kopp, Mother - Agatha (Oloske) Kopp and brother - Eric Kopp, as well as numerous other extended family members.

Celebration of Life will take place at St John’s Lutheran Church in Barrhead, on July 18, 2024, at 11:00 am. Herb always felt flowers were a waste of money that could be put to better use elsewhere. In his wishes, instead of flowers, please consider a donation to Cancer Care Unit of the Barrhead Hospital, Lutheran World Relief, or any charity of your choice.
