James Leonard Sole, Jim to most, passed away January 11, 2026 in Parkland County at the age of 72. He was predeceased by his parents, Ron and Clara, and his sister Judy. He leaves behind his wife, Dawna; daughter, Nicole; son-in-law Jody; grandchildren, Andrew and Nat; and a whole crew of nephews—Graham (Sophie, Vivian, Alex, and Landon), Mark (Kandra, Matthew, and Luke), Greig (Angela and Hayden), and Blake.
Those who knew Jim will remember him for his gentle spirit, his sense of adventure, an open heart, and his remarkable ability to make you feel like you’d known him forever. Life was simply more fun with him in it. The world is a quieter place without the light he shared so freely.
In retirement, Jim embraced the simple joys that make a life rich; spending time with family and friends, watching the birds and lingering over “just one more cup” of morning coffee on the sunny deck. He often said, with genuine contentment, “If I die tomorrow, do not worry about me. I have lived a good life. I have done everything I ever wanted to do.”
Following Jim’s wishes, there will be no Celebration of Life. Instead, honour him in the ways he lived: tell your people you love them, take that adventure you’ve been putting off, and make time for the things that light you up. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an animal rescue of your choice.
