The family of John Harvie Dean Umpherville (Dean) announces his peaceful passing on Oct. 17th 2025 at the age of 59 years. He was predeceased by his father Lyle Umpherville, his brother Jamie Umpherville, his cousin Derek Niedermayer, and his cousin Roxana Mayert. He leaves behind his mother Dorothy Umpherville, his sister Barb Osborne (Roger), daughters Alyssa Umpherville (Patrick) and Aimee Umpherville(Caleb), and grandchildren Taron James Welburn, Roisin Winter McManners, and Fionn Harvie McManners as well as many other family members and friends. Dean worked for CN since 1984, the bulk of his career as an Engineer until his life-changing accident on Sept. 18th 2009. Prior to his accident he lived in Jasper enjoying mountain biking, raquetball, and skiing. Dean was well-liked by many family and friends and had a very active lifestyle. Kids were drawn to Dean. He was his daughters soccer and baseball coach, a fan in the stands, and the loudest scream at any amusement park. He was a fearless protector of those he loved. A Celebration of Life will be held at Graminia Hall on November 8th at 1pm to 3pm, all are invited to celebrate Dean. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Glenrose Hospital.
