Lynda was the oldest of five siblings, born in Kingston, Ontario. She grew up in High Prairie, Alberta, where she attended school. She was married in March of 1962 to the love of her life, Bill. She had various jobs, working in the hospital answering switchboards, and as the front desk clerk at various hotels. She always said her greatest accomplishment was raising her three children and her sister.
Lynda had an infectious smile that seemed to make everybody smile back. She had a giggle that would make you giggle with her. She was good-natured, appreciated a funny joke, and valued the simple things in life. She loved flowers, butterflies, and country music.
Lynda loved to cook, often making cabbage rolls and other homemade meals for her family and friends. She liked to sew, do crafts, play bingo, kick up her heels from time to time, and loved to be around family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Cheryl (Garry); two sons, Brian (Darlene) and Darren (Lesley); granddaughters Haili (Dallas), Lauren (Chase), and Ashlyn (Adam); great-grandsons Haiden and Elek; sisters Debbie (Brian) and Sandra; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Lynda was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill); parents John and Audrey; and siblings Bonnie, Frankie, and Ronnie.
The celebration of Lynda’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at
Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, Alberta, (10005-107 Ave), with a luncheon to follow
in Oliver’s Tea Room. Afterward, burial and graveside interment will take place at the Grande
Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave and 112 St).
For those who cannot attend the service in person, it will be livestreamed. A link will be
available shortly before the service begins.
