It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lynda Mehl. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, Lynda left an enduring impact on the hearts of everyone who knew her.
She is warmly remembered and survived by her mother, Marion; her brother, David; her sister, Joanne; her daughter, Pamela; and her cherished grandchildren, Sophia and Anthony. She is now reunited in peace with those who preceded her in death: her beloved husband, Peter, and her deeply missed daughter, Diana.
Lynda will be remembered most for her boundless capacity to love. She had a truly open heart and was always ready to offer a listening ear and a warm embrace to anyone who needed it. Over the years, she became a surrogate "mom" to many—especially to her daughters' friends and the countless kids she guided while helping run the Junior Forest Warden group in Parkland County.
She embraced life’s diverse adventures with enthusiasm and joy. In later years, she cherished the time spent with her Red Hat sisters, attending events and creating wonderful memories together. She also joined her daughter at the local medieval club, where she found a passionate niche researching heraldry and sewing beautiful medieval clothing. Her nurturing spirit even extended into the digital world; to her guildmates in World of Warcraft, she was affectionately known as "mom," and they loved nothing more than having her hang out, questing, and raiding by her side.
Lynda’s legacy is one of unwavering kindness, acceptance, and a wonderfully varied life lived to the fullest.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parkland Funeral Services, 3502 44 Ave, Stony Plain, Alberta.
Following the service, a reception will take place at the Stony Plain Community Centre, 5008 51 Ave, Stony Plain, AB. All who knew and loved Lynda are welcome to attend and share in honoring a woman who gave so much of herself to others.
