It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, brother and friend on June 3, 2026, at the age of 68. Michael was surrounded by the love of family and close friends throughout his brief and relentless battle. He was incredibly fierce and courageous, giving everything to stay with us as long as he could.
Mike was born in Toronto, but spent his school and College years in Dollard Des Ormeaux, Quebec. His friendships from those days have endured and are a testament to Mike’s commitment and loyalty. He was a solid friend and brother, always there in the good times and the bad.
He came West to Alberta for a summer College vacation that never ended, falling in love with the mountains of Jasper, the Railway, and his soulmate, Sherry. The vacation became 32 years of working the rails with Canadian National Railways, 34 years of a loving marriage, and raising two beautiful boys, Jordan and Benjamin, in Stony Plain.
Mike loved his life. He was a man of integrity, faith and staunch loyalty. He took joy in the small things – like a family dinner, watching a ball game, time with friends and family, or walking the trails with his beloved dogs, Bannor and Murphy. Michael will forever be missed by his wife, Sherry, sons Jordan and Ben, siblings Carol, Jamie (Sheraz) and Tom, sister and brother in-law Lori and Lindsay, Mother-in law Gladys, and niece and nephews Shane, Zachary, Emma and Brandon. Mike was predeceased by his mom and dad Isabel and Alan, his brother Rick, and his beautiful nephew, Ryan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at 11a.m. at Parkland Funeral Services in Stony Plain, Alberta. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in support of Animal Rescue (SCARS or IWARS), or Forest Restoration ( Gifted Tree Planting Project of Alberta).
