Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 72 years Lorne, Children; Debby (George), Doug (Carolin), Sally (Gerry) and Steven. Also deeply missing her are her 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Philip and Josephine (nee Marcotte) Lafreniere, sister Josy and brother Larry.
Phyllis was born in Prud’Homme, Saskatchewan. After her father finished apprenticing, the family moved in 1942 to Bawlf, Alberta so Philip could work as a cheese maker.
In 1948 the family moved to Glen Park, Alberta where Philip continued his cheese making career. Phyllis and Lorne met near the end of 1948 and got married on June 1, 1949. After working mostly together for many years they retired to Stony Plain. They spent 20 years volunteering at what they considered their second home at the Westview Continuing Care Centre.
Phyllis was known as the Pie Lady at Westview. She made hundreds of pies over several years as she hosted the annual pie party.
Phyllis will be missed by family and the many, many lifelong friends she had.
A special thank you to Dr. K. M¬c¬Nicol, Allison for helping her through her journey, Moe, her respiratory therapist and Alice who held her hand as she passed as well as the Westview staff.
Her wishes were to “Think of me while eating a big bowl of ice cream (and not vanilla because how boring).”
