From the first time we met as 14-year olds, to the time I was best man at your wedding and you were the best man at mine, to being godfather for your first born, and all the great times in between until the day of your passing - you were always there and still are.  A fixture in my life.  In fact, you were a fixture in everyone's life who you touched.  Your friendship was such a gift.  And your gift to the world continues in your family.  The most heartfelt condolences to all.

Our hearts broke when we heard of Ryan’s passing. Words cannot express our sorrow for your tremendous loss. 

Although we hadn’t had the opportunity to get to know Ryan well, we always enjoyed our casual, neighbourly conversations with him whenever our paths would cross (which was most often when we were puttering around in our front yards).   We will certainly miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was deeply saddened when I heard of Ryan's passing. I had worked with Ryan for 13 Years at Transalta, he was always bragging about his family and grandchildren. He will never be forgotten.

I am shocked and immeasurably saddened at the passing of the best friend one could hope for. When Ryan and I first met as 14-year-olds, I couldn't have imagined that this was not only the start of a friendship that would last decades, but would also see us share in each other's milestones on our journey through life. The latter is a true measure that someone is more than a friend, but a core part of who you are. I recall when he began to date Cathy, and was honored years later when he asked me to be the Best Man at their wedding and when he and Cathy asked that Marian and I be Godparents to Jason. To follow was Ryan's excited phone call telling me about Scott's birth. Of course he was Best Man at my wedding. And there were the years of bbqs, boating, playing Trivial Pursuit, watching our beloved Eskimos, and just talking about anything and everything until the wee hours. But it wasn't just the good times that reflected what Ryan meant to me. When I saw him at my mom's funeral - I had held out well til then - I burst into tears. Something about his presence at my time of need struck me so viscerally and powerfully. I really needed him more than ever and he was there. One other memory strikes me as poignant as we grieve at our tremendous loss. When Ryan and I bid farewell as I was leaving Edmonton to move thousands of miles away for good, he hugged me and said through tears, "I'm gonna miss you, man". As I type this I am in tears. And I will you miss you too, man. God, will I ever.

Words are not enough to say how hard it is to hear of Ryan's passing but know that Ryan has touched the hearts of so many.

Cathy, Scott and Jason - I know how much you will miss Ryan. He was a big presence with a hearty laugh. It has been a few years now. I think the last time was just before Don died. Cathy, you and Ryan came over for a fire and visit and to pick up something you'd left after a 'play school moms' lunch in the garden. I do remember several other outdoor fires - always with lots of laughter. Remember the one at your place when Jim Timmins showed us all how to boil water in a paper bag. - My heart aches for you. - Patti

Ryan, always a great smile, worked with  Ryan  at Sundance ,units 3&4.
Just remember seeing this very tall man, however always smiling and ready  
And eager to give a hand when needed.

Dear Cathy and family.  I am so sad to hear of Ryan’s passing and wish to extend my deepest condolences.   I’ve worked with Ryan over the course of many years either on the same crew or same projects. He was always one of the strong voices, well known for his kindness and respect toward others.  When he had something so say, everyone listened. Those of us that knew him will say that we all looked up to him as a leader.  I am so sorry for your loss, and the impact his passing will have on such a large local community.

Our hearts broke at the news of Reins passing.  He was a funny, loving person whose greatest love was reserved for you and the boys.  It was always very apparent how much love was between the two of you, it could be felt in the room.  I know that memory will help to support you in the future.  Please know we are here if we can help in any way.

Carol and I were very saddened to hear of Ryan’s passing. He was known as  go to guy in the ash systems at Transalta. You could sense the pride when he spoke of his family.

I always tried to tag along behind Ryan and Tony.  They were so cool in high school .
