Her legacy lives on through her family: son Kevin (Marie), and grandchildren Emilie and Hunter Porter; daughter Michele (Vance), and grandchildren Cheyenne (Ty) and Colbey (Viv) Klepper. She is also survived by her siblings Laurayne, Margot, Brent (Jan), and Guy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Thelma Gannon, and her in-laws, Lindsay and Flora Porter.
Sandra was born on January 21, 1948, in Stony Plain. As the oldest of the Gannon siblings, she was a positive role model to her younger brothers and sisters. She completed high school in Stony Plain before marrying Keith on September 22, 1967, in Edmonton.
The couple made their first home in Red Deer, where Sandy worked for a law firm. In 1972, they returned to the family farm and raised their family in the Keephills community. Sandy was a devoted mother to her two children and a proud Nana to her four grandchildren.
Sandy lived life fully. She and Keith travelled widely, often with friends, and made lasting friendships wherever they went. Whether it involved country music, rodeos, baseball games, or simply enjoying good times with great people, Sandy embraced every moment. She especially loved spending time with friends and family, whether hosting gatherings or heading out for social occasions.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd at 2:00pm at the Heritage Pavilion, Parkland Hall in Stony Plain, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Society Canada, the ALS Society of Alberta, or a charity of one’s choice.
