It is with deep sorrow that we announce that on Feb 17, 2026, Shawn Briggs tragically passed away at the young age of 57 years old.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Georgina Briggs. Left to mourn his passing is the love of his life, fiancée, Shelley; children: Mary (Paul), Kase (Leondra), and Melissa; stepdaughters Heather (Ryan) and Katrina (James); grandchildren: Rylee, Delfina, Lillian, Amber, Colin and Ryder; step-grandchildren: Frankie, Gage, Kazmeir, and Sophia; siblings: Gina, Wallace, and Sarah (Russel); great-grandson Bentley; nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Jerrod), Matthew, and Angel (Scott). He leaves behind countless cousins, friends, fellow bikers, truck drivers and union brothers and sisters from his days as an ironworker, far too numerous to name but never forgotten.
Shawn was a man who was always on the go. Whether it be for work, on his bike or in the jeep for a road trip, usually for bike parts, he seldom was idle. His years with ironwork saw him tie rebar and do structural steel for buildings, bridges and dams. On road trips he would often point out something and say “I worked on that!”, his voice full of pride. He loved his travel, whether it be bike trips or annual winter vacation in Mexico, Shawn was always planning the next trip.
Later in life he found his stride as a class 1 trucker. Long haul of oversized loads was his absolute favourite. He loved trucking in the states and loading up his sleeper cab with Lipton’s Green Ice Tea to bring home his stash.
His lifetime passion was riding motorcycles, often building his own. Bikes weren’t just a hobby for him, they were a part of his soul. His latest project was building a Shovelhead for Shelley. Recently he acquired his dream bike of a 1961 Harley Davidson Panhead and was slowly bringing it back to its original glory. The garage was his happy place, when he couldn’t be out riding.
Shawn’s love of riding bikes and squirreling around in the garage was trumped by only one thing. His love for his family and friends. If someone called and needed a hand, no matter what it was, especially bike stuff, he would drop everything and run.
Shawn will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He had a profound impact on everyone he met and turned strangers into friends everywhere he went.
A celebration of Shawn will be held March 6 at 11:30 am at Heritage Park 5100 41 Ave, Stony Plain, Alberta in the Spruce Grove Hall.
