Josephine Gleeson

Josephine (Judy) Gleeson, 77, of New City, New York, passed away January 3, 2026.

Josephine was born in County Limerick, Ireland, to Mary (Hynan) and John Birrane. Josephine was raised there alongside her siblings Ann, Bridget, Patricia, Helen, Nora, Antoinette, Jack and pre-deceased Margarette and Peter. She emigrated to New York in 1970 and became a United States citizen. She resided in Flushing, Queens, until moving to New City in 1977.

Josephine is survived by her husband Thomas, her son Matthew, son and daughter in-law Thomas and Ellen. She leaves four grandchildren Kailey, Daniel, Kelly, and Adriana. Josephine dedicated her life to caring for her family. We will always remember her stubborn, funny, and nurturing spirit along with her warm smile. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 73 North Liberty Drive, Stony Point, NY, 10980, on January 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A graveside service is scheduled at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY, 10954, on January 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
