Betty Jean Bone, 90, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She went to be with the Lord after a long, full life devoted to family, generosity, and love.
Betty was born on June 13, 1935, in Sidney, New York, to the late Richard and Nelly (Post) Smith. She graduated from Binghamton High School in New York, where she met the love of her life, Richard Charles Bone. They later married, beginning a lifelong partnership.
Richard joined the United States Navy, and Betty proudly stood by his side throughout his service. After his discharge, they moved to Pompano Beach, Florida with Richard’s family, and later settled in Hobe Sound, Florida. There, they owned and operated Twin River Mobile Park for more than 60 years, until Betty retired in 2025.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Charles Bone.
She is survived by her children, Janette Brewer and James “Jimmy” Bone (Catherine).
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Kacie St. Hilaire (Guerin), Adam Bone (Courtney), Tia Connell, Tammy DeFilippo (Chris), Dixie Holley (Alex), Bella Bone, and Tracie Durrance.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Odeva (Emily), Colton (Angel), Hailey (Ashton), Lia, Jazmin, Clayton, Blake, Karagen, Raeleigh, Emery, and Elijah, as well as many great-great-grandchildren both here and yet to be born.
Betty loved many things in life—her lilies, birds of paradise, roses, and the cardinals she watched daily from her window. Her greatest and most passionate love, however, was always her family. She made sure the blinds were open every day so she could admire her flowers and watch the birds she adored.
She especially loved teaching “her girls” how to shop and made sure they always had the perfect perfume for every occasion. Betty believed deeply in second chances and lived a life of giving, forgiving, and helping anyone in need, no matter the circumstances.
Betty’s final request was that no one wear black in her memory. She wanted bright colors—because that is how she wished to be remembered: bright, loving, and full of color.
A service celebrating Betty’s life will be held on January 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Aycock Funeral Home, Young & Prill Chapel, located at 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, Florida 34997.
Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband on January 29, 2026, at Florida National Cemetery in a private family service.
For those wishing to send flowers, arrangements may be made through A Goode Florist, reachable at 772-692-2424.
