At her request, no service will be held.
Mrs. Engelhardt was born March 6, 1933, in Manhattan, New York, to James and Margaret McKay. While her six children were in school, Kay worked as a receptionist at several organizations. After her children had grown, she married William Engelhardt and they retired to Indiantown Florida.
Kay proudly worked as a Martin County Florida Sherriff's Department crossing guard all the way up to December of 2017 and retired at the age of 84! For years people would wave and honk as they drove by while she joyfully crossed her "children" on their way to school. She was dearly loved by all of her kids and she was always delighted to have a grown parent with children of their own come up to her at the store and say "Hi Mrs. Engelhardt, remember me, you used to cross me every morning back and forth too school"
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Smith and Daniel Smith and his spouse Diane, two daughters Carol Lynn Jewell and her spouse Truman Jewell, and Marguerite Paretta and also her ten Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Engelhardt, her two sons, Gerard James Smith and Aloysius Smith, and her adored granddaughter Maria Christina Smith.
