Dorothy Joan Hinchcliff

Dorothy Joan (née Welser) Hinchcliff, aged 76, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2021 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 23, 1945 to parents Walter and Erva (Bender) Welser. Dorothy moved to Fort Pierce, Florida as a young child and attended Fort Pierce Elementary and Dan McCarty high school. She married her husband of 58 years, Richard C. Hinchcliff, on June 29, 1963.

Throughout her life Dorothy was a devoted mother, enjoyed animals, donating to animal rights charities, and raised birds with her husband in her later years. She was also a hard working skilled seamstress and a successful businesswoman of nearly fifty years. Early in her career, she worked for Rosslow’s in Fort Pierce making alterations. Dorothy was also a highly successful businesswoman for many years, owning Dorothy Hinchcliff Alterations. Within her business, she made alterations for the ROTC, created many elegant wedding, prom gowns, and suits.

She is preceded in death by her brother Edwin Welser, parents Walter and Erva, her sister Erva Ann (Bender) Roberts, two grandchildren, David and Kara Hinchcliff, and her youngest son Scott Hinchcliff. She is survived by her husband Richard Sr, her sons Richard and David, and numerous grand and great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

LIVED...LOVED...SHARED... She was never ashamed to tell everyone that she loved Jesus Christ our Savior. May she be with Him the rest of eternity in no pain. Rest in peace Mom. We all loved you more than life itself.
