I worked as a Server at the Jupiter Island Club in Hobe Sound Florida.  Met and saw Mr. Hamm often while working there.  I told him I was from the Home of Sky Blue Water Minnesota and knew where the falls were .  He brought me Hamm's Beer .  He was a good man. Truly missed.  And quite a Character

I worked at the Minnesota Club as a server in the main dining room many years ago.  He was such a pleasant soul. very outspoken,  animated, and a great story teller.  Sometimes a bit of a goofball, but I loved serving him.  Rest in peace, Mr. Hamm. ❤

We are saddened to learn of Ted’s passing last March.  We are so grateful to Ted and the Hamm family.  We offer our sincere condolences.  Ted faithfully and significantly supported organizations whose purpose was to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with teens.  I am one of those teens.  “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15 NIV   Ted is a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. Ted was an incredibly generous human. Because of his big heart and investments, thousands of young people know Jesus. Thank You, Ted.

Just learned of Ted’s passing. He was such a good friendl and unique individual and loved the kids. He was generous and kind to all. His sweaters were a defining characteristic, winter, summer, spring , or fall. RIP big Ted. ❤️

We have only recently learned of Mr. Hamm's passing, which brings sadness, fond memory, and hope borne of faith.  I came to know him when I served as Rector of his beloved St. Martin's by-the-Lake Episcopal Church, Minnetonka Beach, MN.  A shy man, he came alive when I asked him about his personal faith in Christ, which he vividly recounted to me, and especially to our then teenaged sons.  He was more than gracious our family, and generous to his Church.   Mr. Hamm was a true character, and master storyteller, with a sly sense of humour. Our times spent with him on Jupiter Island, and here in Minnesota, will never be forgotten.   To his family, and closest friends, I offer our sincere condolences:  

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Hamm's passing. I have such fond memories of him. His intelligence, wisdom and humor will be missed by many. May he now rest in peace.

Ted, Bill, his older brother, and I had a great summer together in Europe in the middle 1950s. Ted had to have been a history major at Yale as with great frequency he'd ask to stop the car while he walked out into a field telling us about Attila, The Hun, and his exploits there!  I well remember being in the dark in some important castle overlooking a river. I really did not care about its history. We had no lights to get us out of there! We headed down to the Riveria meeting friends there for quite a while. A special summer led by this intriguing fellow with a deep knowledge of European history. While Ted was working in NYC we saw each other and much later in Florida on occasion as my brother lived in Hobe Sound.  A special Minnisotan who will be missed

Dear Family of Ted:

So sad to hear about Ted. While at SPS, he was as large as life. At first we were not close. But beginning our fourth form, and living across the hall from one another at Old Upper, we became good friends. At graduation sadly we knew the friendship would not endure. Different lifestyles. 

I much admired him as he entered our English class to promote submitting articles of interest  to the Scholastic Horae for at the time he was editor. Regrettably I never submitted. But when I entered the University of Vermont, I began to submit articles to the Centaur, UVM's equivalent. Like I said, Ted was large as life. Many shall miss him.

Don and Eileen Smith

Teddy was a great friend, not only at school, but for all his remaining years. He was such a unique individual and certainly unforgettable. Although I saw him mostly in Hobe Sound, as seen below with fellow SPS classmates Oggie White and Steve McPherson, our paths crossed in other places over the years. I remember walking down the street in Geneva and seeing a very distinctive silhouette about a block ahead of me. Sure enough it was Teddy characteristically attired with a sweater draped over his shoulders on top of his jacket on a warm summer day. Rest in peace my friend. I will miss you. 

 


Tedd Hamm, Uncle Teddy! My Oscar  Wilde. The family trips around the world. Driving through St Paul by your parents home and the chats about the Fitzgerald’s. The best of the best were the weekend parties” Camp Hamm” on Hobe Sound 
My husband Brad Hillstrom still remarks with glee, to this day 3 day weekend at  “Camp Hamm “were the best parties on the planet! Lunches at Jupiter Island Country Club, decorating the houses, “The Ascot “
Clubbing in London, dinning with my daughter’s Ashleigh & Brittini in Paris. New York we tripped into  the bouquets of flowers in our favorite restaurants La Grenouille and we walked the ruins of the Twin Towers with all of our friends. Your love for your son Teddy Jr., was the the biggest light in your life. Shannon was your little flower who bloomed every time when you were around. 
Holiday dinners will never be the same but we will leave a place for at our table. 
O, Teddy !!! Who the heck put St Patrick’s Day in the middle of Lent. 

Say hello to Oscar for me.

Mrs. Tina  Hillstrom 

Ted was one of my best friends when we were students at St.Paul’s School. We drove out west in two cars from Wayzata, Minn in 1954 with the Pillsbury brothers and Beanie Case. We were seventeen and it was a memorable experience. Rest In Peace, dear friend.
