Gwendolyn M. Bogert, age 78 of Hobe Sound Florida, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Hackensack New Jersey, to Charles A. Bogert and Louise M. Bogert, she was raised in River Edge NJ and had been living in Hobe Sound Florida since 2000.
Wendy, as she was known to friends and family, graduated from Columbia University and worked professionally as a physical therapist in California for most of her life. She was respected by patients and colleagues until she retired early to care for her aging mother. She and her mother lived together during those years, traveling and enjoying the company of mutual friends until her mother passed away.
Wendy was an artist accomplished in oils and acrylics, and saw beauty in the world around her. She loved animals of all kinds, and was passionate about the protection of their habitats. She also loved ballroom dancing, travel, golf, and creating stained glass lampshades.
Although she never married or had children of her own, she was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews; Scott, Lisa, Jeff, Allison and Andrew.
She is survived by her brother Albert Z. Bogert of Conway, FL; her sister Anne G. Bogert of Port St. Lucie, FL; 2 nephews, 2 nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service in Hackensack, NJ sometime in the month of September following Wendy’s burial at the family gravesite of the Hackensack Cemetery. Interested parties may call the Hackensack Cemetery at (201) 342-1475 to inquire regarding the exact date and time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, which was Wendy’s wish.
