Jake was born in Lancaster, PA on March 28, 1928. He grew up in Allentown, PA where he practiced Dentistry for 38 years. He married Mary Louise Motter in 1954, and they brought up 2 sons in Center Valley, PA. Jake and Marylou moved to Stuart, FL in 1992 where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
Jake’s love for people, his love for life, and his love for Christ were inseparable. Always an encourager, he was a special husband, dad, grandpa, friend, and neighbor to anyone in need. Professionally, Jake was a dentist, then a caregiver and clock repairman until he retired at the age of 85. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954, on the Southern Lehigh School Board for several years beginning in 1968, and in many church capacities over the years. Recreationally, he was an accomplished sailor, a hobbyist, and connoisseur of tools or anything mechanical. Jake’s enthusiasm, great heart, and kind spirit will be missed by all.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents Jacob Behler Sr and Maryann (Horting) Behler, and his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou (Motter) Behler. He is survived by his sons Scott and Gary (Nikki) and grandchildren Jake and Laurel.
