Born October 25, 1917 in Greenville, MI, she was the daughter of Rudolph D. and Blanche Pitcher Verplanck.
Following high school graduation she attended University of Michigan and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Alma College in Alma, MI. She earned her Master’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University.
Jeanette retired from a career of teaching. She taught in multiple areas, from the first grade level to specific classes of English and Chemistry.
She was of the Methodist faith; a member of First United Methodist Church of Hobe Sound and had been a volunteer at the church thrift store.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Peach of Hobe Sound and Mary Darling of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Susan, Julie and Kristi; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Edward Ward; sister, Genevieve; brother, Garrett Verplank and granddaughter, Amy Jo.
