Joan was born in Staten Island, NY and moved to Stuart, FL in 2000 to be closer to her sons and grandchildren.
She worked, with dedication as a Registered Nurse for most of her life graduating from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY and from the Florida Institute of Technology with a degree in BSN.
She was devoted to her two sons; Brian R. Fitzgerald and Joseph A. Fitzgerald. She cherished her grand daughter, Kelsey Fitzgerald and Kelsey's sisters, Stephanie and Samantha Nell and would want to reassure the girls and her sons that they were in her heart and prayers always.
She is survived by a large extended family and dear friends.
A religious ceremony will be held at Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, located at 6801 SE Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL, 34997, US, on January 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Following the ceremony, a celebration of life will take place at the same venue from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
