Maryann Rose Atkins

Maryann was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her daughters Maria Atkins and Ellen Morris (Neil Morris); grandchildren Olivia Atkins, Rylan Morris, and Savannah Morris; her brothers Joseph and William Walczak, and her ex-husband George Atkins. She was preceded in death by her significant other Richard Zeitz and her parents.

Maryann attended York High School and subsequently earned her bachelor’s degree from North Central College, where she studied business administration. She had a long and successful career working for Jewel/Osco while living in Illinois. In 2012 she moved to Hobe Sound and became the Operations Manager for The Library Foundation of Martin County, where she worked for 11 years. She was passionate about promoting literacy and education in the community. She was instrumental in implementing the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Summer Reading Program, which benefited thousands of children in Martin County. Although her greatest passion more than anything, Maryann loved spending time with her daughters and her grandchildren and her favorite son-in-law.

A celebration of Maryann’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13th from 2:00PM-4:00PM at Aycock Funeral Home in South Stuart, FL. A funeral service will begin at 3:00PM, followed by a dinner at First Baptist Church of Hobe Sound, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Library Foundation of Martin County at www.libraryfoundationmc.org in Maryann’s memory.
