Terry was born in DeKalb County, Indiana, in the city of Garrett, to Lyston Dale Betz and Mary Ruth Biddle Betz, who preceded him in death.
Terry is survived by his son, Nicholas Dale Betz, of Stuart, Florida; his daughters, Nicole Sue Betz, of Stuart, Florida, and Angela Mary Stark, of Butler, Indiana. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Mark Stark (wife Autum) and Lauren Wilson, and three great-grandchildren, Ariya, Linkin, and Luca Stark.
Terry is also survived by his sister, Janie Grussing (husband Phil), of Charlottesville, Virginia; his nephew, Bill Grussing, of Florida; and his niece, Kelly O’Neill (husband Ted), along with their children, Erin and Michael O’Neill, of Virginia.
After moving to Florida in 1987, Terry worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 2022.
Terry enjoyed watching NASCAR, with Dale Earnhardt as his idol; football, especially the Detroit Lions; college basketball, cheering for Indiana; and NHRA drag racing. He also had a passion for model railroading, building detailed layouts complete with towns, airports, and cattle ranches using cardboard, plastic straws, cups, and anything he could creatively repurpose.
Another great love of Terry’s was collecting Hot Wheels. Over more than 30 years, his collection grew tremendously, and he enjoyed trading and selling pieces from it.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, located at 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, Florida, on February 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Donations are greatly appreciated and may be made to Terry Betz’s GoFundMe account, which can be found on Facebook, to help with funeral expenses.
