Obituary of Connie Snider
Constance Lowell (MacLaughlin) Snider, 100, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the home of her daughter surrounded by family. Born March 18, 1924 in the Panama Canal Zone, she was a daughter of the late Col. John Andrews and Norah Constance (Saunders) MacLaughlin. Connie, known to some as Lo and to many as Nana, was raised in a proud military family as her father served in the Army and later would become the wife of an Air Force Officer. She proudly supported her husband and they were able to live and visit many places around the world during his military career. For many years following his retirement, they made their home in Pennsylvania on 14 wooded acres. She was happiest outside, as she spent a lot of time gardening and weeding. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special bond with each of them. Connie never lost the desire to continue to keep learning and her passion for reading. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Sammy Vernon Conly Snider; daughter, Holly Saunders Snider Harris; son, Sammy V.C. Snider, Jr.; grandson, Jonathan Edward Harris; brother, John Thompson MacLaughlin; and sister, Jeanne Hill MacLaughlin Hartman. Survivors include her daughter, Christopher “Christi” Almarode and husband, Leroy Harvey Almarode, Jr. of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren, Clint Almarode and wife, Lisa, Curt Almarode and the mother of his children, Kim, Lindsay Harris, Andrew Harris and wife, Abby, Jessica Bemesderfer and husband, Eric, Travis Riley and wife, Courtney, and Andrea Harris; 15 great-grandchildren, Lexi, Bentley, Camdyn, and Dawsyn Almarode, Justin Christiansen, Braydon Harris, Jack and Louise Harris, Greyson Bowers, Paxton, Bristol, and Rumer Bemesderfer, Coen and Luke Riley, and Alexa and Zuri Harris; brother, Charles Andrews MacLaughlin and wife, Myrle of Sonoma, CA; and a number of very special nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many Air Force “nieces and nephews” that were very special to her. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Stuarts Draft Baptist Church, 2517 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft. Following the visitation, a celebration of life service will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft.
